About this course

Module 1 is the foundation of the ATPL Proxmox VE curriculum. Over two intensive days you move from a blank server to a production-ready virtualization host, working through installation, networking, storage and day-to-day administration on real lab hardware.

Every topic is taught hands-on by a certified trainer. You leave with a working reference environment, a complete course handbook and the practical habits you need to manage Proxmox VE confidently in your own infrastructure.

  1. Installation & first boot 2h

    ISO preparation, partitioning choices, and a guided first login.

  2. Storage: LVM, ZFS & directory backends 2.5h

    Choosing and creating local storage for VMs and containers.

  3. Networking: bridges, VLANs & SDN basics 2h

    Linux bridges, VLAN tagging and the software-defined networking panel.

  4. Virtual machines: creation, templates & cloning 2.5h

    Hardware config, cloud-init, templates and linked clones.

  5. Containers (LXC) in practice 2h

    Unprivileged containers, bind mounts and image management.

  6. Backups & restores with vzdump 1.5h

    Snapshot, suspend and stop-mode backups plus restore drills.

  7. User management, permissions & realms 1.5h

    Users, groups, roles, two-factor authentication and LDAP realms.

  8. Monitoring, logging & housekeeping 2h

    Metrics, log locations and a practical maintenance checklist.
