About this course

Ceph gives Proxmox VE scale-out, self-healing storage — but only when it is planned and operated properly. This two-day course covers the full lifecycle of a hyper-converged Ceph cluster, from sizing and crush rules to performance tuning and failure recovery.

You work on a live lab cluster and deliberately degrade it to learn what normal recovery looks like, so you can recognise abnormal behaviour in production.

  2. Planning a Proxmox Ceph cluster 2h

    Sizing, network separation and hardware choices.

  3. Creating OSDs, pools & crush rules 3h

    Replication vs erasure coding and failure domains.

  4. Performance tuning & benchmarks 2h

    Measuring IOPS and latency, and tuning for your workload.

  5. Monitoring with the Ceph dashboard 1.5h

    Reading health, PGs and capacity signals.

  6. Failure recovery & rebalancing 2.5h

    Disk and node loss, backfilling and recovery throttling.

  7. Day-2 operations & upgrades 2h

    Rolling upgrades and routine maintenance.

  8. Troubleshooting lab 1h

    Diagnose common Ceph health warnings.
